The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo has asserted that Ghanaians are suffering under the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by President John Dramani Mahama.

He explained that Ghanaians are suffering because the NDC administration lacks the competence and ideas to manage the country’s economy.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, an NPP government led by him would turn the economy around and build a prosperous nation if elected in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary polls.

“Ghanaians are suffering too much. NPP will do something about the current economic situation if elected during the December 7 polls, because Ghanaians are really suffering,’’ he stated.

Nana Akufo-Addo made these remarks when Ambassadors for Nana Addo (AFONA), one of the volunteer groups campaigning for his presidential ambition paid a courtesy call on him at his Nima residence in Accra on Thursday to interact with him.

The group led by Mr. Bright Osei Opuni, Chairman and his deputy Mr. Obeng Fosu presented a campaign song composed by a member of the group , portrait of Nana Akufo-Addo and copies of a document on Sanitation situation in the country as well as the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS).

Nana Addo noted that an NPP government under his leadership would focus on job creation to ensure that the teeming unemployed youth would find work to do so that their living conditions would be improved.

“God willing if we come to power we will focus on job creation. That is my greatest desire. We are going to create jobs in Ghana and implement programmes and policies so that Ghanaians will be relieved from their current plight,” he assured.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who expressed gratitude to the group for their visit charged them to intensify their campaign drive and sell the party’s vision to the electorates to ensure that the party obtain more votes during the upcoming polls.

He advised them to embark on campaign devoid of mudslinging and insults, saying “This type of campaign is not part of me.”

Nana Addo further advised them to respect the party’s structure by informing the executives of the constituencies they have planned to go and campaign so as to avoid misunderstanding between them and the constituency executives.

He used the opportunity to introduce some of his personal assistants to the group.

Mr. Bright Osei Opuni, Chairman of AFONA, who spoke on behalf of the group accepted Nana Akufo-Addo’s advice and promised to embark on clean campaign.

Mr. Opuni noted that AFONA‘s campaign message will focus more on the 1-district-1 factory as well 1 –district -1 dam policy being announced by Nana Akufo –Addo for the three northern regions by explaining to the electorates that they are doable.

He commended Nana Akufo Addo for being patriotic when he accepted the verdict of the 2012 Election Petition. ‘

He appealed to Nana Akufo-Addo to assist them with a vehicle to facilitate their campaign.
