A Communication team member of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Charles Owusu, has called on all the opposition parties contesting this year’s elections to take steps to prevent the Electoral Commission (EC) from doing things which will pave way for the ruling NDC to rig the elections.

Speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis programme “Boiling Point”, he argued that the electoral management body headed by Mrs. Charlotte Osei has proven beyond reasonable doubt that it is no longer a neutral body.

He cautioned that it will be disastrous for the opposition parties to relax and trust that EC will organize free and fair elections in December 7, saying the posture of EC boss clearly shows she is supporting President Mahama.

“Let’s not relax and think that EC is still a neutral body. It is no longer a neutral body because the chairperson of the commission has demonstrated that she is in bed with the NDC and President Mahama. So we shouldn’t lose sight of that. We should be aware by now that, we don’t have a fair referee in this year’s elections so we must stand up and resist attempts to rig the elections,” Charles Owusu stated.

He wondered why the EC is bent on imposing President Mahama on Ghanaians for another term in office, when his administration has mismanaged the economy and institutionalized corruption in the country.

Charles Owusu, who accused President Mahama administration of inflating cost of the projects they have executed so far expressed shock that government was spending a colossal $174 million on the ongoing Kasoa Interchange project when West Hill Mall with all the auxiliary facilities including road linking the mall cost $110million.

“What kind of thievery is? This is murder,” Charles Owusu angrily said.

According to him, majority of Ghanaians are fed up with Mahama administration and therefore charged the opposition parties to be vigilante and demand openness in all the electoral processes.

“Ghanaians are prepared to change this corrupt government so let us not sit aloof and allow EC to tie our hands behind us,” he advised.
