The Presbyterian Church of Ghana is asking Ghanaians not to entertain its former public relations officer, Mr. Emmanuel Osei Acheampong because he is a fraudster.
According to the current Public Relations Officer of the Church, Rev. Ezekiel Larbi, the embattled former PRO was dismissed due to his involvement in fraudulent activities.
“He was using the church to engage in fraudulent activities,” he said.
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana is on a collision course with the former PRO following the latter’s claim that the outgoing Moderator of the church, Professor Emmanuel Martey had received 100,000 dollars and a V8 vehicle meant to bribe him by politicians, contrary to his earlier statement that he rejected the bribe.
Mr. Acheampong has granted interview on several radio stations and peddled wild allegations against Prof. Emmanuel Martey in a bid to discredit his (Professor Martey) credibility.
Prof. Martey while addressing the press on Tuesday said he refused to accept a 100,000 dollar bribe meant to shut him up from commenting about the NDC.
But Mr. Acheampong, who worked closely with Professor Martey, described his claim as false.
According to him, Prof. Martey indeed took the money and a vehicle from some politician and revealed that the Man of God gave him 50,000 dollars but he rejected it.
However, speaking on Oman FM, Rev. George Larbi, who condemned the former PRO for seeking to tarnish the image of the outgoing moderator said, the allegations being made by Mr. Emmanuel Acheampong are untrue.
He argued that Mr. Acheampong doesn’t have credibility because his allegations are full of contradictions.
“The Presbyterian Church doesn’t take Acheampong serious. I will describe him as a fraudster because we terminated his appointment based on fraud,” he stated.
Rev. Larbi urged Ghanaians to disregard the honorary doctorate degree being conferred on the former PRO arguing that checks conducted by the church indicates that the institution which presented it to him has not been accredited and therefore it is fake.
