The policy advisor of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Boakye Agyarko has asked Ghanaians to disregard the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) and President Mahama for doubting the feasibility of the 1–district -1 factory and 1 district 1 dam policy being proposed by the NPP.
According to him, the ruling NDC is bereft of ideas and so cannot develop and implement policies which will benefit every Ghanaian.
He noted that what NDC is good at is engaging in reckless dissipation of public funds and looting of state resources rather than working to improve the living conditions of those who voted for them into power.
Speaking on Oman FM, Mr. Boakye Agyarko described as ridiculous, the argument by members of the NDC that the proposals are not feasible because the country lack financial muscle to implement them.
According to him, the NPP government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo would be able to implement the 1–district -1 factory as well as the 1 -district -1 dam policy because Ghana is endowed with so many resources.
“They are saying we don’t have money so we will not be able to implement these proposals. But have they considered the number of projects all the monies they have stolen as well as those which are reported in the Auditor’s General Report annually could have provided?” he quizzed.
Mr Agyarko also accused policy Think Thank IMANI Ghana for joining the band wagon in questioning the feasibility of the projects.
He questioned the motive behind IMANI’s hastily objection of the proposed projects since his party is yet to launch its 2016 Manifesto.
Mr Agyarko insisted that policy is feasible reminded the doubting “Thomas’s” of a similar bold step by Ghana’s first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to build factories all over the country at a time the population was hovering around 8 million with just little resources.
“When the population was 8 million Dr. Kwame Nkrumah promised to build 350 factories and started to build them and he was applauded. Our population now is 27million and we are now richer than Dr. Nkrumah’s time yet the doubting Thomas’s are saying we can’t do it,” Mr. Agyarko noted.
He gave assurance of the NPP’s determination to fulfill all the promises the party’s flagbearer has made if the party is given the opportunity during this year’s election to come to power.
