Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akomea has refuted claims by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the party’s Presidential Candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cancer.

Nana Akomea in an interview on Oman FM’s National Agenda Show on Monday said the “cancer claim” against Nana Addo is just one of the many attempts by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to deceive Ghanaians that he (Nana Addo) is not fit to run for the Presidency, since defeat is starring them in the face ahead of the December 7 polls.

Nana Akomea argued that NDC had resorted to the vile propaganda, fabrication and mischief because of the recent opinion polls by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), UK, Centre for Democratic Development, Ghana (CDD-Ghana), Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) as well as Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) which put Nana Addo ahead of President Mahama in this year’s election.

The “Africa Watch Magazine” in one of its recent publications said the NPP’s campaign hangs in a balance after its flagbearer was diagnosed of cancer.

Reports by the Daily Guide suggested that the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) contracted the US-based magazine to publish a false report on the health of Nana Addo titled; “NPP campaign in jeopardy…Akufo-Addo has cancer.”

However, Nana Akomea described the claim as false saying “It’s not true that Nana Addo has cancer.”

He challenged the NDC to prove that NPP’s flagbearer is suffering from cancer.

“If they are saying that he is suffering from cancer then they should prove to us,” he demanded.

He could not fathom why members of the ruling party would peddle such false claim about Nana Addo when the 72 years old man is even stronger than those peddling the false claims.

“As we speak Nana Addo is on 10-day’s tour of the Upper East and Upper West campaigning. Yesterday, he addressed rallies in Bawku and Bolga at about 7pm and 8pm. So how can somebody sit in Accra and say that Nana Addo is sick?” he said.

Nana Akomea, who accused NDC of engaging in politics of deceit, malice and falsehood, urged Ghanaians to reject them in the upcoming polls.
