The Greater Accra Regional Executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party have charged the volunteer groups working for the party in the region to go the extra mile by embarking on what they described as identification of every voter in each electoral area by knowing their political affiliations.

According to the executives, this would help the party to have fore knowledge of the total number of votes the party is likely to obtain in each constituency and re-strategize ahead of the December 7 polls.

Addressing the groups at the party's Regional Office in Accra Newtown, the Coordinator for the Volunteer Groups 2016 and Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the party, Mr. Archibald Cobbinah, who commended the groups for their efforts so far, underscored the need for them to do more.

"We appreciate every single effort you are making. The party hasn't given you any resources but you have all through your efforts been mobilizing resources and campaigning for the party," he stated.

He noted that while some of the groups are working very hard to ensure that the party returns to power, others just wear the party's attire and roam in town without making the efforts to talk to prospective voters.

According to him, it was not enough for the groups to just to wear party's paraphernalia without meeting prospective voters and selling the vision of the party to them.

“Wearing of the party's attire through town is good. But it doesn't win votes. What win votes is you engaging the voter and letting them know why they should vote for the NPP," he indicated.

"Reach out to every voter in the electoral area. Talk to them and double check their names in the voters register," he added.

He advised the groups to be tactical when they approach voters, saying "you have to appeal to their hearts and not to engage their minds by arguing with them."

Mr. Archibald Cobbinah, who lambasted President Mahama administration working against businesses which supports the NPP financially, charged the volunteer groups to do everything possible to ensure that the party returns to powe

He disclosed that the party intends to recruit as many as 40,000 as polling station agents to supervise the upcoming elections in each polling station in the region.

On his part the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Hon. Ishmael Ashittey disclosed that the party plans to win between 55%-60% of the total valid votes cast in the region for its presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo.

"We are also looking at winning a minimum of 20 parliamentary seats in the region. We are determined to increase our seats from 14 to 20 this year," he added.

He charged the volunteer groups to work very harder to ensure that the party realizes this dream.

He advised them to be strategic by embarking on house to house campaigns rather than organizing float saying, it doesn’t attracts non NPP members.

Hon. Ishmael Ashittey explained that house to house campaign is very effective in the sense that you have the opportunity to talk to the voter direct.
