Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, Mr. Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie has charged supporters of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghanaians, who are dissatisfied about the performance of President Mahama administration and yearning for change in government to monitor Electoral Commission (EC) closely in order to prevent them from rigging the elections for ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, officials of the Electoral Commission have deliberately planned to rig the upcoming general elections in favour of President Mahama and NDC because of their parochial interest.
“The Electoral Commission is bent on rigging the elections for John Dramani Mahama. They have done it before and they want to do it again,” he asserted.
Speaking on Oman FM’s National Agenda Show on Monday Mr. Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie revealed that he has information about series of meetings between officials of the Electoral Commission and executives of the ruling NDC ,where NDC offered huge monies to EC officials in a bid to bribe them to rig the elections in their favour.
Mr. Kuranchie, who expressed his disgust at the EC hinted of his intention to publish extensively the series of meetings and places they were held as well as names of both EC and NDC who were officials involved.
“EC officials have been meeting NDC executives in the night at Afrikiko and Paloma Hotel, and you will be shocked if see the huge monies which was offered to EC officials. Give about a week, I will publish all the details,” Kenneth Kuranchie stated.
Mr. Kuranchie said he became apprehensive the first day Madam Charlotte Osei was appointed as EC Chairperson because he knew she was not someone who is trustworthy.
He noted that steps being taken by the commission ahead of the December 7 general elections have proven beyond reasonable doubt that EC is determined to rig the elections.
He underscored the need for the opposition New Patriotic Party to learn enough lessons from revelations during the Supreme Court hearing of the 2012 election petition and prevent EC from rigging this year’s elections.
