The “Times are hard” demonstration being organized by the coalition of opposition political parties in the Northern Region over ‘killer electricity tariffs’ is underway in Tamale.
They are demonstrating despite the police directive that the demonstration should be postponed because President John Dramani Mahama is kick starting his Northern Regional campaign tour, the same day.

The demonstrators are holding placards with inscriptions such as, “Enough of the untold hardships,” “No reduction no vote,” “JM is incompetent” “Reduce the electricity tariffs” “We are not dummies-NDC JM” “Killer tariffs actually killing us” “We want change” and “Tamale Teaching Hospital is a death trap” among others.
The Coalition of opposition parties comprises the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), the Peoples National Convention (PNC), the National Democratic Party (NDP), the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) and the All Peoples Congress (APC).
