The President of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) Dr. Nana Afriyie Ayew has taken the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Alhaji Collins Dauda, to the cleaners over his religious bigotry comments.

According to him, he had always thought that Alhaji Collins Dauda was one of the reasonable people in the NDC government, due to his calmness and affable nature, but was disappointed to know that his language sometime could be so poisonous.

Alhaji Collins Dauda while addressing his party supporters in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, asked Muslims in the country to vote against NPP because the party has a long history of discriminating against people living in the Zongos adding “if you allow the NPP to come to power again, they will exhibit this same character of discrimination.”

Sharing his experience, he recounted that, “In 2004, the NPP told me that I am a foreigner, I am a Mossi and that I am not a Ghanaian. They challenged my citizenship and even prevented me from voting. This case ended up at the court. The court cleared me to contest.”

But his remark has ruffled the feathers of the opposition New Patriotic Party with several leading members of the party including the flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, condemning him for attempting to incite Muslims against NPP for political expediency ahead of the December 7 polls.

Speaking on Oman FM's political analysis programme "Boiling Point" Dr. Nana Afriyie Ayew, who got incensed by the comments of Alhaji Collins Dauda minced no word describing him as the "worst and most useless Minister."

"If you think your party is losing grounds in the Zongo communities and you have got nothing to say don't open your mouth. I think Collins Dauda is the worst and most useless Minister," he charged.

Dr. Ayew, who is also the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Afigyase Asokore in the Ashanti Region, slammed the local government Minister for making the unfortunate comments.

The vociferous AFAG boss expressed surprise that Alhaji Collins Dauda is not bold enough to stand the pressure being mounted on him following his religious bigotry comments by going into hidden.

According to him, several media houses have made attempt to contact him on phone but none of them had been successful because his phones are off.

He dared him to switch on his mobile phones if he is a man.

"You're a minister of state and you go there and incite Muslims against NPP. And afterwards you put your phone off. If you are man Collins Dauda switch on your phones,"he dared.

Dr. Ayew rubbished the claims of Alhaji Collins Dauda saying it is not true that Nana Addo will discriminate against Zongos if elected saying “NPP has an impeccable track record of being the party which has people on the zongos at heart.”

He cited a number of instances including producing the first Muslim vice president in Ghana.

He questioned whether Alhaji Collins Dauda has done anything for the people in the zongos.

"What have you done for the Zongos since you became MP and Minister? When you had the opportunity to send about 500 people to Cuba on scholarship to study, how many of the people you sent were from the Zongo communities,” he queried.
