The Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has lambasted the General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketsia for describing NPP as a disorganized and disintegrated party.
Titus Glover, who said he had always felt like vomiting anytime the NDC’s chief scribe, speaks described Mr. Asiedu Nketsia as an “educated illiterate.”
He could that fathom why Mr. Asiedu Nketsia would seek to denigrate NPP for raising legitimate concerns about Electoral Commission’s decision to use electronic means to transmit collated results in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
It will be recalled that the 2016 Campaign Manager of the NPP, Mr. Peter Mac Manu, recently accused the EC of not adequately briefing the NPP about the e-transmission process. Mr. Mac Manu had said: “No political party or civil society organization has received invitation from the EC to attend the demonstration [of the transmission process].” He said on Sunday July 31 that the EC had not been able to convince the country why it intended to conduct e-transmission of poll results in December.
But the election management body rejected the claims of Mr. Mac Manu, indicating that the party was adequately informed about the decision to transmit the result electronically. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Mr. Asiedu Nketsia, who sided with the EC that, the NPP was fully aware of the decision, accused NPP for gaining notoriety for kicking against decisions which they were part of.
“NPP has now gained notoriety for kicking against decisions of IPAC which they were part of. We [NDC] wish to tell the NPP in plain language that they should let their ‘yes’ be ‘yes’ and ‘no’ be ‘no’ in order to save the little remaining integrity left in that disorganized and disintegrated party. They should also know that discerning Ghanaians are getting impatient with their double standards and if they don’t mend their ways, the nation will move on with or without them.”
However, speaking on Oman FM, the Tema East MP, who condemned Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketsia, discounted his claim that NPP is disorganized and disintegrated.
“NPP is a well organized party. We’re not disintegrated. Today, the party is running smoothly so they are worried. The NDC wish that we have internal wrangling but it won’t happen,” he stated.
Titus Glover slammed Mr. Asiedu Nketsia for misconstruing the concerns of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the electronic transmission of the elections results.
According to him, the concern his party raised had nothing to do with claims by EC and NDC that NPP was aware of EC’s decision, but rather the modalities regarding the electronic transmission of the results.
Titus Glover, who accused the NDC of supporting every decision by the EC alleged that NDC was planning to rig this year’s election.
