President John Dramani Mahama has been asked to sack all his Ministers and appointees who have so far signed the book opened by the management of Montie FM, soliciting for support to petition him to free presenter of the station and two panelists being jailed by the Supreme Court. The Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI), a Christian pressure group, which threw the challenge to President Mahama, argued that this would prove to Ghanaians that he (President) doesn't endorse violence and lawlessness. "We the Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI) are daring President John Dramani Mahama of the republic of Ghana to immediately sack his Ministers and Appointees who have gone to sign the disgraceful petition book opened to free the Montie 3 convicts to prove to Ghanaians that he is not violent and does not tolerate the act," the group demanded in a statement. Some of the Minister's who have so far signed the petition book are Minister of Education, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, her Deputy Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, Deputy Minister of Agric, Dr. Luisa Hannah Bissiw, Deputy Minister of Communications Felix Kwakye Owusu and Senior Policy Advisor at the Presidency Valarie Sawyerr. Speaking in an interview with Oman FM, the Public Relations Officer of the Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI), Rev. Daniel Osei Budu, said sacking those Ministers and Appointees shouldn’t be a difficult thing for President Mahama since he has on several occasions demonstrated to Ghanaians by his speeches that he is a man of peace.
"This is a practical test for the President to show us that his consistent preaching on peace is not just born out of hypocrisy,” he said. Rev. Daniel Budu, who accused the Ministers and supporters of governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for encouraging lawlessness urged the President to condemn the action of the Ministers. According to him, President Mahama's continuous silence on the issue would be interpreted by Ghanaians to mean that he supports the action by his ministers. He reminded President John Dramani Mahama to bear in mind that he is the President of the Republic of Ghana and not president of NDC. Story By: Michael Creg Afful
