Pupils of Duadaso No 2 Ramseyer Presby primary in the Jaman North District in Brong Ahafo Region are being compelled to either sit on the floor or lay on their belly to write due to unavailability of desks and furniture’s in their classrooms.

They are said to have been in this pretty sad situation for almost two years.

The most affected pupils are those in primary 2, 3, 4 and 5.The situation according to the pupils is affecting them in many ways.

While some say their performance in school has declined steadily, others said they are suffering from serious health challenges including neck and back pains.

A reporter in the area, who visited the school Thursday morning, told Oman FM that he was saddened by the plight of the innocent pupils.

“When I got to the school this morning they (pupils) were writing examination and I couldn’t believe seeing these innocent children sitting on the floor and writing their exams. It was very sad,” Oyoko Nanaa Kankam Boadu narrated to Oman FM.

According to him, majority of the pupils have had to abandon school and are roaming in town due to the poor condition in the school.

Several appeals by the authorities of the school to ensure that government provide them with desk and furniture’s have fallen on deaf ears.

This, according to Oyoko Nanaa Kankam Boadu, has made teachers in the school to be worried.

He said explained that the teachers have made up their mind not to give class exercises to the pupils anymore because of the excruciating pain they have to go through to get the exercises done.
