The 2016 policy advisor and chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s Energy Committee, Mr. Boakye Agyarko, says the Presidential Candidate of his party Nana Akufo Addo is determined to find lasting solution to the debilitating power crisis Ghana is confronted with if elected as President of Ghana in the upcoming general elections.

According to him, NPP’s government led by Nana Akufo-Addo will focus its attention on the development of the oil and gas sector to ensure that it becomes a major booster of Ghana’s economy.

“If you engage Nana Addo in conversation, you will be amazed to know how he is so determined to develop the energy sector. He wants to bring massive development in Ghana’s energy sector so that we have sustainable oil and gas to propel the economy,” Mr. Agyarko stressed.

He said one of the things Nana Addo led administration will do is to step up efforts in developing the Voltarian Basin which is endowed with petrochemicals.

The Voltarian basin stretches across Volta, Northern, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Eastern regions of Ghana.

This, he said, will ensure that the country generates more power adding that it is also to ensure job creation for people living around the Voltarian Basin.

Speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis programme “Boiling Point”, the former Vice President of Bank of New York blamed the power crisis which has crippled businesses and thrown thousands out of jobs on what he described as bad government policies and corruption.

“What I have always said is that, we’re where we are today because of bad government policies and corruption. There is too much corruption in the energy sector. And I’m saying that until we stop it the problem will still continue,” Mr. Agyarko declared.

Mr. Agyarko took swipe at President Mahama for deceiving Ghanaians that the country is not back to the period of load shedding.

Mr. Agyarko urged Ghanaians to vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo in the upcoming general elections since President John Dramani Mahama has failed them in all sectors of the economy.

“Let’s try Nana Addo because I know that he has good intentions and policies for this country,” he appealed.
