The Unilever Ghana Foundation on Saturday stormed Zenu, near Ashaiman in the Kpone Katamanso District with its flagship programme "Perfect Neighbourhood" which seeks to improve the entrepreneurial skills of retailers as well as health, hygiene and nutrition of community members.

Perfect Neighbourhood is a programme that partners with retailers to transform their chops into vibrant neighbourhood centres as well as driving behavioural change in school children on the fundamentals of health, hygiene and nutrition using Unilever products such as Pepsodent, lifebuoy and blue band. It is estimated that the programme will reach out to about one million to help at the end of its implementation. The programme which took place at the Zenu KKDA primary 1&3 attracted hundreds of school children as well as retailers of Unilever products.

There was excitement all over as the school children were refreshed with snakes amid dancing and drumming.
The school children were educated on how to ensure proper hand washing with soap as well as the need to brush their teeth twice on daily basis to prevent tooth decay. They were advised to use soap to wash their hands thoroughly after using the toilet so as to avoid germ and bacterial infections. In a short address, the customer development programmes manager at Unilever Ghana Limited Sarah Kyei Baffour noted that statistics from the World Dental Federation indicate that 96% of adults within the age of 35-44 in Ghana are affected by periodontal diseases whiles 40% of 12 year olds suffer from decayed teeth, missing teeth, stained teeth and bad breath.
She appealed to the school children to ensure that they wash their hands with soap as well as brush their teeth twice daily.
