Alhaji Yakubu Labaran Barry
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ashaiman Constituency Alhaji Yakubu Labaran Barry has stated that he will make history during the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the Constituency by obtaining an overwhelming majority of the total votes cast.
According to him, his victory will be so spectacular that it will shock the leadership of NPP and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) which has occupied the seat for several years.
Asked why he sound very confident, Alhaji Barry explained that he had identified what he described as tricks being adopted by the governing National Democratic Congress to rig elections in the constituency and has therefore taken adequate steps to ensure that those tricks are not being carried out during the polls.
He added that there were lots of structures he and the NPP constituency executives had put in place in ensure victory as far as the November 7 polls is concerned.
"There are lots of things which are happening in Ashaiman. I'm telling you my brother. I'm changing a lot of things underground but I won't tell you all that I'm doing for now," he stated.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Oman FM, Alhaji Barry, who shared some of the things he had been doing, said one of his strategies had been embarking on houses to house campaign to meet the residents on one on one basis to sell his vision and that of the flagbearer of his party Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo to them.
"Every house I have been to the people there are ready for change. I mean the people of Ashaiman are yelling for change. What they have been telling me is that they are suffering under NDC administration," he claimed.
Alhaji Barry indicated that the Ashaiman constituency and national executives of the governing NDC are terrified over the wind of change that is blowing in Ashaiman to the extent that General Secretary of NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketsia and some other national executives of NDC have been paying regular visits to the constituency in the night to campaign and even appeal to disgruntled NDC supporters who have threatened to vote skirt and blouse in the upcoming elections.
He said since he was chosen as the parliamentary candidate by his party, the executives of the governing National Democratic Congress have been doing everything possible to tarnish his image by peddling all manner of allegations against him.
He dismissed allegations making rounds in the constituency that he was campaigning for himself and President John Dramani Mahama who is the presidential candidate of the governing party at the expense of NPP’s flagbearer.
Alhaji Barry who accused the NDC for peddling what he described as falsehood against him noted that the people of Ashaiman have rejected President Mahama and NDC because they have failed them.
He said although people of Ashaiman have been voting for NDC in every election, there is nothing in the constituency to show for their loyalty to the party.
"When Nana Addo came to Ashaiman he spent just one and half hours but the crowd that followed him was massive and the news was all over the country. However, when President Mahama came only few people went to the rally grounds. This is an indication that the people of Ashaiman have rejected him. They even bussed people from other constituencies to the venue," he alleged.
He urged residents of Ashaiman to vote massively for him and the flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo to come to power to industrialized the economy and create jobs for the youth.
