3 person perished in fire at Santasi

Three persons including a popular waakye seller are reportedly burnt to death at Santasi, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The victims who are said to be from the same family perished, when fire reportedly gutted their four bedroom house at about 1am on Friday, June 17, 2016, while they were still sleeping. Properties running into several million cedis were also burnt into ashes by the fire which lasted for several hours. It is not clear what might have caused the fire. Eyewitnesses accounts indicated that personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service did not arrive at the scene early after they were called and informed about the incident.
