NDC is plotting to jam telecommunication networks during November 7 polls –Kennedy Agyapong

Outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has issued a stern warning to the governing National Democratic (NDC) to shelve its plan to jam telecommunication networks in the country on the day of elections saying the opposition will resist it with maximum force.

According to him, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) recently took delivery of about 8 jamming equipments from the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) stressing that NDC intend to mount them in strategic areas in the country in order to interrupt the operations of the telecommunication networks.

He explained that the move is to prevent calls from going through so they could rig the November 7 elections.

“I’m monitoring them because I know where they are keeping all those jammers. We shall see what will happen on the voting day,” he said.

Kennedy Agyapong further said the NDC also intends to set up a monitoring device in each district specifically in the home of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives across the country with the aim of blocking the opposition parties from transmitting polling station results to their collation centres.

The outspoken MP who disclosed this on Oman FM’s political analysis programme “Boiling Point” stated that NDC has outlined a number of strategies to rig this year’s elections including the formation of election directors in each of the 270 constituencies.

According to him, the role of these election directors is to liaise with the Deputy Commissioner of Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Operations, Amadu Sulley and General Secretary of NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketsia for them to be trained about how to rig the elections.

“When we talk about Sulley you don’t believe,” Kennedy Agyapong told host of the show Martin Kwabena Kwakye adding that “What Sulley is doing is mindboggling. Sulley is doing all the machinations and scheming for NDC to rig the elections. He is wicked than her boss Madam Charlotte Osei. Sulley meets with Asiedu Nketsia every day.”

Touching on the statement made by the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor that his outfit will consider shutting down social media on the elections day, Kennedy Agyapong cautioned him against taking that step.

Kennedy Agyapong, who questioned whether IGP has power to do so said information available to him indicates that NDC was behind the move by the IGP.

He was surprised that a fine gentle man like IGP would kowtow to NDC and do their bid just to secure his position, without considering the consequences of his actions.

“If IGP would follow NDC because of position and disgrace himself is over to him,” he said.
