Embattled Youth Organiser for Oyarifa branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Boateng, has expressed shock over claims by President John Dramani Mahama that he has never taken a bribe since his political life.
President Mahama, who is attending anti corruption summit in UK, told BBC in an interview that he has never taken a bribe in response to a question whether he has accepted bribe before.
But reacting to his comments on Oman FM’s political analysis programme “Boiling Point” Mr. George Boateng accused President Mahama of being untruthful.
George Boateng, who said he was a security guard in the accreditation room at the Osu Castle, during the regime of late President Atta Mills, revealed that President Mahama had insatiable desire for bribe taken.
According to him, President Mahama’s insatiable desire for bribe taken was mindboggling that the staff of Osu Castle were left with no option than to give him the nick name “Boombo” to describe how corrupt he was.
“I was working in the accreditation room as a security guard at the Osu Castle. Any visitor who came there to see the President contacted us first before he or she could see him. I saw so many things. And I heard President Mahama was involved in so many corruption deals,” he stated.
Ghanaians would recall that late President JEA Mills set up a committee to investigate President Mahama, who was then vice president for allegedly inflating the cost of Embraya he procured for Ghana Armed Forces.
However, the committee could not release their report because of the demise of President Mills.
George Boateng challenged President Mahama to prove to Ghanaians that he has never accepted a bribe before by swearing to the Antoa nyamaa deity, a popular goddess in Ashanti region.
“I dare President Mahama to let us go to Antoa and swear to the goddess if he says he hasn’t taken bribe before,” he declared
He said he was surprised that President Mahama could be so dishonest by saying that he was fighting corruption when corrupt officials in his administration are walking around freely.
George Boateng noted that Ghana is retrogressing fast under President Mahama because of incompetent leadership and corruption.
“When you talk about Bui Dam corruption it is Asiedu Nketsia, when you talk about Brazil World Cup scandal it is Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, when you take about Woyome scandal it is Betty Mould Iddrisu. When you talk about Smartty’s bus rebranding it is Dzifa Attivor. These people are walking freely yet President Mahama is saying he is fighting corruption,” George Boateng asserted.
He accused President Mahama for failing to retrieve monies wrongfully paid to NDC businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome and officials of GYEEDA and ISOFOTON.
He called on Ghanaians to vote out president Mahama during the November 7 polls to save the country from total collapse.
