The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Awutu Senya West in the Central Region, Mr. George Andah has charged Ghanaians to challenge President John Dramani Mahama to mention the names of individuals or organizations which attempted to offer him a bribe but refused.
Mr. Andah believes the ongoing discussions on President Mahama’s claim that he has never accepted a bribe should be pushed further in a direction which will compel him to mention names.
In an interview with the BBC on the sidelines of the Anti Corruption summit in UK, President Mahama said, “Any human being would have encountered corruption in one way or the other. What you need to do is to put yourself in a position to (resist it).”
But when specifically asked if he had ever taken a bribe before, the President was quick to say no, “I haven’t taken a bribe.”
Speaking on Oman FM’s National Agenda, Mr. George Andah deduced President Mahama statements to mean that he had been offered bribe before.
“I feel we should dare the President to mention the names of all those who offered him bribe but refused. So that we know whether those people are still executing government project,” he suggested.
Mr. Andah was shocked that President Mahama could go to the extent of saying that he is vigorously fighting corruption when his administration is plagued with numerous corruption scandals.
Mr. George Andah, who is also a member of OccupyGhana, touching on the Smartty’s bus re-branding saga, accused officials at the Flagstaff House for refusing to disclose the content of the Attorney’s General report on the Smartty’s bus rebranding saga.
Although the report has not been made public yet, Mr. Andah told Oman FM that information available to OccupyGhana indicates that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General had recommended the prosecution of the former transport minister Mrs. Dzifa Attivor and all those involved in the GHS 3.6million bus re-branding saga.
Mr. Andah served notice that OccupyGhana will soon return to the Supreme Court to compel government to make the report available to them.
