The National Youth Organizer of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has stated that no amount of dirty propaganda to paint the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a bad person will work this time around.

Sammy Awuku was reacting to a video which has gone viral on the social media suggesting that the NPP flagbearer will drive away foreigners from Ghana should he wins this year’s elections.

“Let me put it on record that NPP campaign team and the party have not put out any advert targeted at foreigners. But I’m not surprised that when it is getting to the time of elections those in government and their followers decide to feed Ghanaians with propaganda.”

Speaking on Oman FM, Sammy Awuku accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of being behind the said video.

He lambasted the NDC for launching a scathing attack on Nana Addo anytime there was going to be national elections in the country.

He could not understand why NDC members will continue to vilify Nana Addo when the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of NDC, Kobina Ade Coker and NDC chairman for Central Region, Mr. Alottey Jacobs as well as Alhaji Bature had extolled Nana Addo for exhibiting patriotism and maturity by accepting the verdict of the 2012 election petition.

Sammy Awuku questioned why would the same people turn around and present Nana Addo as a bad person in the eyes of Ghanaians when the country will be going to the polls in November 7.“The propaganda will not work this year,” he said.

According to him, majority of Ghanaians particularly, the youth have already made up their mind to vote for a party which will address the economic problems confronting the country and would therefore not accept the lies of the NDC.

“When you listen to majority of the youth in the country now all that they will tell you is that they will vote for a party that will solve the economic problems.”

Sammy Awuku noted that inability the government to resolve the unemployment issue in country has forced majority of the youth onto the streets to engage in selling of dog chains.
