A group calling itself Patriotic Kwahu Youth Association has expressed disgust at the acting Kwahumanhene for asking Ghanaians to renew President Mahama's second term bid. According to them, the action of Nana Asiedu Agyeman (II) is unacceptable because the 1992 constitution has banned chiefs from engaging in active politics. They explained further that Nana Asiedu does not have the authority of entire Kwahuman to pledge their support for President Mahama since he is only acting and not appointed as a substantive chief. Nana Asiedu Agyeman was quoted in the media to have pledged the support of people of Kwahu for President Mahama's second term bid and went further to ask Ghanaians to give him second term given the good works he has done in his first term. But the Patriotic Kwahu Youth Association disagrees. Speaking to Oman News, Spokesperson the group Yaw Ofosu Sefa described his comments as uncalled for. “It is clearly stated in the 1992 Constitution that chiefs cannot engage in active politics. So we’re asking the Kwahu Traditional Council to drag him before the council and if possible punish him for what he did" he stated. Yaw Sefa added that they also demand that Nana Asiedu Agyeman (II) apologize for his action. He said they were incensed that Nana couldn't use the occasion to draw the attention of President Mahama to the many challenges confronting them such as poor road networks and lack of good drinking water but rather chose to pledge their support for him.
