The 2016 Policy Advisor to the campaign team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Boakye Agyarko is worried over the seeming silence of the Chief Justice despite the actions of Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and some officials of Mahama administration which undermines the Judiciary and also threatens the security of the country.
According to him, the posture of Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood in the face of what threatens the peace and security of the country is problematic.
Mr. Agyarko believes Chief Justice should exercise the authority of the judiciary since the institution’s image is being brought into disrepute.
It would be recalled that an Accra circuit court last Thursday granted bail to three South Africans ex- police officers, who were in Ghana to train body guards of NPP flagbearer and his running mate, after they were charged for unlawful training and conspiracy to commit crime, but BNI refused to release them as ordered by the court.
Mr. Agyarko who was speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis programme Boiling Point bemoaned what he called the growing level of lawlessness being exhibited by government institutions and key figures in government.
He wondered why BNI could exhibit such impunity when they expect others to obey their orders since they are a law enforcement agency.
He was flabbergasted about the fact that the Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing Hon. Kweku Agyeman Mensah could defy orders by a Ho court for five times compelling the court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Mr. Agyarko, who described the development as dangerous, questioned why National Peace Council as well as civil society groups were silent on the issue.
