The 2016 Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo says he will score President John Dramani Mahama either 2% or 3% on the scale of 10% for his effort in the fight against corruption.
According to Nana Addo, President Mahama has not demonstrated enough commitment towards fighting the canker saying “if President Mahama were to be fighting corruption you will him to be much vigorous in his confrontation of the issue. You will see that things will be done in a more radical different manner.”
“I don’t believe President Mahama is fighting corruption,” he conjectured.
He accused the President Mahama administration of breaching all the procurement laws which the erstwhile Kufuor administration passed, as part of effort in curbing corruption in the award of government contract.
Nana Addo who was part of those that drafted the law said the competitive bidding process was put in place to ensure value for money and transparency.
Nana Addo stated that his party and well meaning Ghanaians are complaining bitterly about how government was undermining the Public Procurement Act.
He noted that the abuse of the law by Mahama administration has denied the country value for money as far as projects undertaken by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) are concerned.
“There is no proper value of money in many of the contract that has been awarded by Mahama administration,” Nana Addo stated.
Asked how his administration would fight corruption if Ghanaians give him the nod in November polls, Nana Addo said his administration will first make sure that the Procurement Law was duly followed.
Touching on the economy, Nana Addo bemoaned that Ghana’s economy has retrogressed under the Mahama led Administration even in the abundance of the country’s huge resources.
Nana Akufo Addo said President Mahama has failed to build on the good foundation laid by his predecessor President Kufour.
“Look at the wonderful development brought about by the Kufour administration without a single drop of oil revenue, and look at our economy now that we are an oil producing country, agriculture is not growing, manufacturing is in decline, our currency is weak, our economy is in serious crisis, how can I score someone who has performed such abysmally a high mark” Nana Akufo asked?
