The state has dropped the charges against the head of security for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akuffo Addo, Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda and the owner of the EL-Capitano Hotel, Captain (rtd) Acquah.

The two were implicated in the arrest of the three South African ex-Police officers who were arrested on Sunday for allegedly training private security personnel of the NPP Presidential Candidate.

They were charged and granted bail yesterday after the Bureau of National investigations (BNI) took their statement.

Speaking to Oman News , one of the lawyers for the ex-Police officers, Nana Asante Bediatuo stated that the charges against the two have been dropped.

South African ex-Police officers granted bail

Meanwhile an Accra Circuit Court earlier today [Thursday] granted bail to the three south African ex police officers who were arrested in the Central Region for allegedly offering military training to 14 security guards of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The three, Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (rtd), 54; Warrant Officer Denver Dwayhe, 33, and Captain Mlungiseli Jokani, 45 have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and unlawful training.

The circuit court judge, Patricia Quansah, ruled that each of them be granted bail to the tune of GHc 20,000 each with one surety.

The state argued that it needed more time to investigate the matter since it had national security implications but the lead lawyer for the accused persons, Ellis Owusu Fordjour pleaded for bail for the accused, arguing that they were ready to cooperate with security agencies.

The judge also ordered the BNI to confiscate the passports of the accused persons.
