The Vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated categorically that his party led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo will form the next government in 2017 to restore the country to a sound economic footing. He is convinced NPP will win the November 7 polls and govern the country because the party’s flagbearer Nana Addo has vision to transform all the sectors of the economy if elected. "Indeed change is coming. Change is coming. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is coming. A new NPP government is coming in 2017,” Dr. Bawumia chanted Addressing party supporters in Tema on Sunday during the inauguration of executives of Tema chapter of the Coalition to Elect Nana Addo and Bawumia (CENAB), a volunteering group within the NPP, Dr Bawumia accused President Mahama administration of mismanaging the country's economy.

According to him, the only thing the NDC led by John Dramani Mahama has done for the past eight years has been inflicting suffering and hardships on majority of Ghanaians. Comparing the resources which were available to NPP under Kufuor administration and National Democratic Congress under late President Atta Mills and President Mahama, Dr Bawumia said, Kufuor had Ghc20million yet was able to undertake massive infrastructural developments and also introduced several pro-poor policies to cushion Ghanaians.
Dr. Bawumia said NPP introduced National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), School Feeding Programme, Free Maternal Care, Capitation Grants, Metro Mass Transit, Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) and also paid teachers and nursing training allowances from the meager resources.
“That is the record of NPP after eight years with only Ghc20billion,” he indicated.
However, he said NDC has had an unprecedented resources running into the tune of Ghc200billion cedis, but has failed to utilize the resources to develop the country and even collapsed most of the social interventions which were introduced by the NPP.
“NDC has had Ghc 200billion resources. But today NHIS has collapsed, School Feeding has collapsed, Free Maternal Care, National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) has collapsed, teacher training allowance has collapsed, nursing training allowance has collapsed and the worst of all is the four years of dumsor,” Dr Bawumia noted.
Dr Bawumia, who expressed abhorrence at the state of affairs in the country, explained that, he chose to label President Mahama and his administration as incompetent because of the way they have mismanaged the country’s economy.
“When I told President Mahama that his government is an incompetent government, he disagreed and said I cannot describe them as such because I haven’t been a President before. I beg you (referring to the supporters) if you’re in car and the driver is going to crash won’t you speak out ….? Are you a driver then …?” he quizzed.
Dr. Bawumia charged Ghanaians to drop President Mahama on November 7 polls this year and replace him with Nana Addo, who is a competent driver to steer the country into prosperity.

“All of us can see that President Mahama is a bad driver so on November 7 we will drop him and replace him with a better driver. And that driver is Nana Addo.”
He assured that an NPP administration will build what he called the most business friendly and people friendly economy in the whole of Africa.
