The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed claims that it schemed to prevent a lecture by the Running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Bawumia on the premises of the Dambai College of Education in the Volta Region.
According to the Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mustapha Gbande, the party has no time to waste on Dr Bawumia, adding that the report must be treated with the contempt that it deserves.
The largest opposition Party, NPP has accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of being behind Dr Bawumia’s refusal of access to the college by authorities of the school, where he was scheduled to address the students.
The NPP has insisted that none other than the NDC could be responsible for the turn of events as it feared the opposition’s running mate would have used that platform to highlight its campaign promise of restoring the teacher trainee allowances which have been scrapped and replaced with the Students Loan Scheme.
But in an interview on Citi News Tuesday, the Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mustapha Gbande, urged Dr. Bawumia to stop peddling untruth.
“Bawumia should stop going round the areas and peddling falsehood. So if they are accusing us of frustrating their programme, it’s a big lie. Nobody in the NDC has time for Bawumia,” he said.
He indicated that the NPP is not a match for the NDC in the Volta region and hence wondered why an act such as Dr Bawumia’s lecture which will be of no impact on the electorates should bother the party.
