The Convener of the pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) David Asante says some people are after his life because of the pressure the group is putting on the Electoral Commission for it to give Ghanaians a credible voter’s register.

According to him, he had been receiving life threatening text messages from some strange people in the nigh, in recent times.

He also disclosed that he is being trailed in the night with vehicles by people he believed to have been hired by those who are opposed to their call for a clean voters register.

David Asante, who was speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis, programme Boiling Point gave strong indications that the group will not be perturbed by the death threats and intimidations.

“No amount of intimidation will dissuade us from our path,” he stated.

He said the group has dedicated itself to fight for a good cause for the country hence nothing can stop them for achieving that goal.

The LMVCA has given the Electoral Commission (EC) one week ultimatum to inform Ghanaians whether it is going to clean the voters register or not.

According to the group they would be compelled to mobilize Ghanaians to hit the streets to protest against the EC.

David Asante stated categorically that the country will not go to the November polls with the current voters register whether EC likes it or not since it is over bloated.

“We can assure you that we will not go to this year’s polls with this over bloated and dangerous register,” he warned.

He expressed disgust at the EC chairperson Madam Charlotte Osei over her refusal to give Ghanaians a clean voter’s register, saying it is clear that EC wants to set this country up for chaos during this year’s election.

David Asante is outraged that EC could take an entrenched position on the need for validation of the register which was part of the recommendations made by the five member committee it formed recently to solicit public views on the way forward regarding the current register.

He said he can state without equivocation that EC is not ready to clean the register.

“We will not sit down for EC to tow a path which will create chaos in this country.”

David Asante charged Ghanaians to rise up if they want this year’s elections to be peaceful.
