Give the youth jobs - Gonja youth to President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has been charged to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth, to enable them have a decent living.
The Gonja Youth Chief for Ashaiman and Tema, Alhassan Kamel, who made the call, argued, that the unemployment situation in the country, was increasing rapidly because of government’s failure to spearhead policies which will create opportunities for the youth.
Describing the situation as worrying, Alhassan Kamel said, many young people in the country especially, the youth in Ashaiman are becoming frustrated and are increasingly feeling hopeless.
“We want to know the steps that President Mahama administration is taking to address the unemployment situation in the country. This is because we’re so much concerned about it,” he demanded.
Speaking to Oman News, in an interview during the annual celebration of Damba Festival in Ashaiman, Chief Kamel urged President Mahama to take urgent steps to tackle the rising youth unemployment because it is affecting the country in diverse ways.
The Annual Damba Festival which was used to display the rich culture of the Gonja tribe was attended by some personalities as such the Deputy Minister of Power Hon. Abu Jinapor, MP for Damongo ADAMS Mutawakilu alias Galus, Former minister of Youth and Employment Abubakar Saddique Boniface, NPP parliamentary candidate for Ashaiman Alhaji Yakubu Labaran Barry and NDC parliamentary candidate Ernest Norgbey.
Alhassan Kamel stated that unemployment is currently the country's biggest challenge apart from the power crisis which crippled businesses.
Alhassan Kamel also used the occasion to call on the youth to be peaceful during the November 7 General Elections.
