A former National Youth Organizer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Abu Ramadan has revealed that the error ridden Ghana @ 59 independence anniversary brochure cost the state some Ghc450, 000.00
“I’m reliably informed that it cost the taxpayer over Ghc450, 000.00 for the printing of 3,000 copies of the brochure which was distributed at the independence anniversary parade,” he revealed.
Abu Ramadan expressed his disgust at the government for expending what he described as a colossal amount of money on the brochure at the time when the country’s economy is struggling.
The controversial Ghana@59 brochure was full of grammatical, typographical and factual errors with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta who was the guest of honour at the anniversary event for instance, misrepresented as President of the Republic of Ghana.
This development has been largely condemned by many Ghanaians, with some calling for the removal of the Minister of Communications, Dr Omane Boamah, so as to serve as a deterrent to others.
Speaking on Oman FM’s National Agenda Abu Ramadan bemoaned the level of disgrace that has befallen this country under the watch of his Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
He expressed shock that the Communications Minister Dr. Omane Boamah who has gained notoriety for quickly responding to critics of government has suddenly gone silent over the issue.
“Suddenly Omane Boamah has developed a sore throat and cannot speak for us to know who is responsible for this disgrace that has befallen this country, “he conjectured.
Abu Ramadan was also not enthused about how the President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta and President of Guinea Bissau Jose Mario Vaz were treated after the anniversary parade at the Black Star Sqaure in Accra.
According to him, the two heads of state were made to stand under the scorching sun for more than 15 minutes before the vehicles designated to convey them arrived.
“Mr. President (John Dramani Mahama) where have you been in the world and you were treated this?” he quizzed.
