JUSAG threatens another strike over poor salaries

The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has given government up to March 31, 2016 to meet their demands on the consolidation of their salaries else they will embark on an industrial strike.

JUSAG in May last year embarked on a strike in respect of non-payment of allowances, and later proposed that salaries of its members be consolidated to forestall similar occurrences. But the association in a statement insists government has since failed to implement the consolidation of their salaries, hence their decision to go on strike to drum home their demands.

Speaking to Oman News president of JUSAG, Alex Nartey expressed the disappointment of members in government, arguing that there is no seriousness on the part of government in addressing their concerns.

This he said has angered members and they have no other option than to lay down their tools.

“If you get to know the salaries being paid to our members you will scream,” he stated.

Alex Nartey recalled that in 2012, JUSAG as well as Directors and their deputies within the country’s judicial system petitioned the Judicial Council for a new salary structure which was approved and forwarded to government for implementation.

He added that the leadership of the association has made various follow-ups on government, but all efforts to realize this legitimate demand have not yielded the expected results.

According to him, they will only rescind their decision if government gives clear indications of its readiness to address the concerns in their petition.
