The Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the November polls, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Friday fulfilled his promise to the Kperisi Basic School in the Wa Municipality in the Upper West Region, when he presented 250 dual desks to the school.

Dr. Bawumia, who visited the school last weekend after the plight of pupils studying on the bare floor were widely publicized, made a promise to present 500 desks to them.

But few days after his promise for which reason political opponents have criticized him for seeking to score cheap political points, the Wa Municipal Assembly and the Upper West Regional Minister, hurriedly intervened by providing some desks.

Although they claim to have presented 200 desks and that the furniture was being constructed even before Dr. Bawumia’s promise, Citi News’ Upper West Regional Correspondent, Latif Mahama, said he counted only 52 new desks on that day.

He however quoted the Headmistress of the school Rosina Die as saying that the desks were enough for the pupils.

Despite harsh criticisms of his action by political opponents, Dr. Bawumia has made good his promise .

The NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Wa Constituency, Issahaku Tahiru made the presentation to the school on behalf of Dr. Bawumia.

Those who received the dual desks of 250 which will automatically take 500 people included the Headmistress of the School, an executive of the School’s management committee, an executive of the school’s PTA, and the Landlord of the Kperisi Community.
