The Minority Leader in parliament Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has painted a gloomy picture of the current state of Ghana describing it as a country that is in a state of despondency.

“A nation in severe crisis, a nation whose economic fundamentals are in a wretched state, a nation with a apocalyptic debt overhang, a nation living n deplorable conditions… Industry, especially manufacturing industry is teetering.”

In what he described as a true state of the nation, Hon Osei Kyei Mensa said Ghana is in a wretched state with an apocalyptic debt over-hang, high utility charges, escalating unemployment, weak manufacturing industry and a nation losing its competitiveness.

He continued that Ghana is a nation living in deplorable living conditions with rising inflation weak currency with cost of doing business also skyrocketing every now and then.

Carrying on with his onslaught, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu noted that Ghana is a nation with heightened anxiety, a nation where elections are due in less than nine months and yet critical issues to ensure free fair and transparent elections are yet to be determined.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the NPP, and addressed by the flagbearer, Nana Akuffo Addo, dubbed The Real state of the nation address; Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu said the poor state of Ghana has led to growing despondency and mistrust among Ghanaians.

He says the exposition today is not borne out of "pettiness" and "small-mindedness of doom-sayers".

Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who accused Mahama administration of engaging in dishonesty, lies and propaganda, said the love for Ghana has been completely lost under the current NDC administration.”

“This exercise is not borne out of pettiness of politics or the small mindedness of doomsayers or a wish of any failure of action or policy intended to lift Ghana up.”

He reiterated his party’s commitment to Ghana saying, “We in the New Patriotic Party feel a sense of responsibility to our nation where we are able to shed light where there is darkness, in order to ensure that the resources that God has blessed the black star of Africa are enjoyed by all her citizens and not just a few.”

The NPP’s address is in response to President Mahama’s State of the nation address delivered last Thursday, which the party described as disappointing and filled with untruths
