Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Otor Plaha, has confirmed their outfit has made plans to hold a meeting with the Ministry of Finance as the budget allocated them for the year is inadequate.

The budget for the Ministry was slashed from $36 million to $22 million in a year where Ghana will compete in quite a number of events.

The Olympic Games in Rio, Black Stars World and African Cup Qualifiers as well the Black Princess’ World Cup campaign are some of the major competitions this year and for Auto Plaha, the budget certainly needs a top up.

“We are planning to go the Ministry of Finance. The budget is very much inadequate. The programs for the year will render the money inadequate.”

“We have decided through the Chief of Staff to hold a meeting with the Ministry of Finance.”

“There is a supplementary budget so we are making a special appeal to upgrade the budget.”

“The new Minister of Sports is yet to begin work, when he does this will be one of the issues he will be tackling.”

The PRO also confirmed they will be going with the Ghana Football Association. According to him, the FA are key determinants in the budget hence their inclusion in the meeting.

“We will go with the Football Association.”

“Though we are interested in all associations, the FA programs are major programs and that is what fetches us money mainly.”

“They will present their programs and we will discuss with the Minister on how to get a top-up.”
