A Former Minister of Youth Employment under Kufuor administration Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface is urging the various transport unions to collaborate with the Ministry of Transport and the police to organize refresher courses to build the capacity of their members.

“I’m advising the various driver unions to organize training programs for their members in order to build their capacities. This will help to reduce the rampant accident on our roads,” he said.

Alhaji Sidik Boniface blamed the rising road crashes in the country on several factors including lack of patience and discipline on the part of drivers.

He said it is an eyesore how some driver’s exhibit recklessness when there is traffic jam.

He noted that there are a good number of Ghanaians who are working as drivers in London, New York, Germany and many other parts of the world who drive very well and wondered why those here are not doing same.

Speaking on Oman FM, Alhaji Saddique Boniface, who is also the NPP parliamentary candidate for Madina was commenting on the Kimtampo- Tamale road accident that claimed 71 lives.

He who described the accident as pathetic recalled how her daughter who was standing by a wayside was knocked down and killed instantly.
