The 2016 Policy Advisor to the campaign team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Boakye Agyarko is incensed over attempt by the police to muffle the truth of the case involving the 19 year old Daniel Asiedu, who allegedly murdered the MP for Abuakwa North Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu. Mr. Agyarko is flabbergasted with the turn of events as statements presented by the police in an Accra circuit Tuesday suggested that the suspect had gone to the MPs house to ostensibly to steal but in the process a scuffle ensued between them leaving the suspect with no option than stabbing the MP in self defense. According to him, the statement clearly shows that there is a calculated attempt by investigators to cover up and make the whole case a foolish one. The suspect had earlier on told the police that he was contracted by someone to kill the Parliamentarian and that he and two other accomplices were offered 2,000 cedis each. Speaking on Oman FM's Political Analysis program "Boiling Point" the renowned economist and banker argued that the facts as presented by the police are contradictory to the earlier statements by the suspect. Making reference to a Daily Graphic report following the arrest of the prime suspect, Mr. Boakye Agyarko said, the newspaper gave a detailed report of how the suspect entered the MPs residence and managed to kill him.
“When the incidence occurred the Daily Graphic gave detailed accounts of a confession by the suspect that he and his accomplices were given 2,000 cedis each to kill Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu.”
He described as shocking, that in the face of this report police could turn around and present a contradictory charge sheet to the court.
“Is Ghana police Service now saying that the suspect travelled all the way from Agbobloshie through Korle-bu, Adabraka, Asylum down, Nima, Roman ridge, Airport and he could not rob anybody in those places but went straight to Shiashe to rob JB Danquah and in the process killed him?” he queried.
Mr. Agyarko believes if the police were not up to anything spurious they would have cordoned off the residence of the murdered MP so that nobody could tamper with the evidence which could have led to proper investigations into the case.
