The Ghana Police Service has assured Ghanaians that they are safe and therefore should not panic, despite the recent violent clashes and targeted killings in some parts of the country. The Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur who gave the assurance, noted that the police was not resting in their responsibility to give Ghanaians adequate security. There is growing fear of insecurity among Ghanaians as a result of what could be described as contract killings in recent times.

Some prominent personalities have been killed in strange circumstances, sending shivers down the spines of many Ghanaians.

The latest victim is the late MP for Abuakwa North Hon. Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu who was stabbed to death in his residence at Shiashe, a suburb of Accra. Speaking on Oman National Agenda, Superintendent Cephas Arthur said such killings are bound to happen in spite o the effort of the police. According to him, the situation would have worsened if the police had not put in place adequate measures to protect the citizenry.
