The National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sammy Awuku has appealed to the supporters of the party in the Korle-Klottey Constituency to have faith in the national executives because they are working around the clock to resolve the internal wranglings within the party.

Sammy Awuku pledged the commitment of the executives to ensure that the constituency comes out of its present predicament and even become more formidable.

“I’m confident that by the end of this month we will be able to resolve the issue and restore peace into the party,” he assured.

There is growing tension in the Klottey Korle Constituency since the party held its parliamentary primaries which saw an aspirant, Nii Noi Nortey elected as the parliamentary candidate.

Supporters of the other two aspirants- Lawyer Philip Addison and Adjei Tawiah– agitated over the elections of Nii Noi Nortey claimed the elections were fraught with irregularities.

The two aspirants later filed a suit at an Accra circuit court which annulled the election of Nii Noi Nortey and called for the rerun of the primaries.

But Mr. Nii Noi Nortey has vowed to abstain from the yet be organized primaries.

Speaking to the issue on Oman National Agenda, Sammy Awuku said the party has the chance of wrestling the seat from the incumbent National Democratic Congress and cautioned the supporters against acts which could jeopardize the party’s chances.

“Klottey Korle is one of the constituencies NPP can win. And we are going to win it this year because if you look at the gap during the last elections it was something less than 2000,” Same Awuku stated.

According to him, the NPP is determined to take over the seat from the NDC and therefore would not do anything to destabilize the constituency.
