A former Central Regional Minister Samuel Sarpong has reportedly stormed Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region with armed police officers and bulldozers and pulled down several houses rendering their occupant homeless.
It is not clear whether the said area belongs to the former regional minister, which necessitated his action, that Friday morning.
Mr. Sarpong was said to be in the company of armed police men and some land guards order people to leave the area immediately.
Some of the victims who spoke to Oman News gave a chilling account of how Mr. Sarpong pulled a gun and started firing sporadically, forcing them to run for cover.
Speaking to Oman News, the Odikro of Gomoa Buduburam Nana Kofi Koranteng, who confirmed the action of Mr. Sarpong, said as far as he was concerned Mr. Sarpong doesn’t own land in the area because he not purchased plots of land from the chiefs.
“Even if you own those lands, you don’t take the law into your own hands,” Nana Koranteng said.
Nana Koranteng, who expressed his displeasure about the action of Mr. Sarpong, said what happened this morning is an eyesore.
“This is going to dent the image of the government. I am appealing to president to investigate this issue,” Nana Koranteng suggested.
Nana Koranteng said the action of the former regional minister is indicative of the fact that he wants war to happen in Gomoa Buduburam and called on President Mahama to bring him to order.
