Chairman of the Christian Praise International Centre (CPIC) Apostle Dr Stephen Owusu Jackson has cautioned politicians to desist from the use of intemperate language and provocative words during this year’s electioneering campaigns.

According to him, there is the need for politicians to be mindful of the choice of words they use since the use of provocative words could plunge the country into violence.

Ghanaians will be going to the polls in November this year with tension already heightened in the country.

The country is now divided over the current voters register which the main opposition New Patriotic Party and pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance claim is bloated and therefore is not credible to be used for this year's elections.

Speaking to Oman News, Apostle Dr. Owusu Jackson, who expressed worry over the use of intemperate language by politicians during discussions on key national issues, warned that the trend could spell doom if it is not stopped.

He charged that it was about time politicians tamed their tongue for the sake of peace during the elections.

"Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell," Apostle Dr. Owusu Jackson quoted James 3:5-6

According to him, although God will do his part in ensuring that there was peace in Ghana, Ghanaians also have a role to play in that direction.

"God will be merciful in 2016, but we also have a role to play," he said.

Touching on 2015, Apostle Dr Owusu Jackson described the year as a difficult one and cited the over three year’s power crisis as example of many woes Ghanaians suffered.

He urged government to tackle the energy crisis with seriousness since it is crippling businesses.
