Pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) has vowed to resist the position by Ghana’s Electoral Commission not to compile a new voter’s register through a series of demonstrations.

Speaking to Oman News, the convener of LMVCA, David Asante cautioned EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei to be mindful of the commission’s position on calls for new voters register since it could create chaos in the country.

“We will rise up and we will not rest until our demand is met so EC should be prepared for us,” David Asante charged.

The LMVCA is also angered by the report that a five member committee put together by EC to deliberate on proposals for new voters register, rejected the call for a new voters register.

The committee among other things says it “finds the arguments for a new register unconvincing and therefore does not recommend the replacement of the current register.”

The EC in a statement signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs Christian Owusu Parry said “EC accepts the recommendations of the panel and will progressively implement the recommendations made therein.”

However, David Asante in an angry tone stated that they vehemently oppose the endorsement of the committee’s report by the EC.

He advised EC chair Mrs. Charlotte Osei to adhere to calls for a new register since the current register is flawed.
