An Accra based Legal practitioner Yaw Oppong has charged Ghanaians to rise up and stem the tide of stealing and abuse of state funds and properties by officials who have been put in charge of state funds in the country.
According to him, article 41section (f) of the 1992 constitution states that “The exercise and enjoyment of rights and freedoms is inseparable from the performance of duties and obligations, and accordingly, it shall be the duty of every citizen to protect and preserve public property and expose and combat misuse and waste of public funds and property.”
Lawyer Oppong, who expressed worry over what he described as increasing thievery and abuse of state resources, believes it is time Ghanaians spoke up and rebuked with all the vim they can muster and use appropriate channels to recover whatever properties have been unlawfully acquired or misappropriated.
Speaking on Oman FM, Lawyer Oppong said the way Ghanaians protest against and protect our properties will determine whether or not the officials will have the guts and impunity to steal them.
He advised Ghanaians to dare to go to court with all the courage they can muster, to expose the corrupt practices of officials.
Lawyer Oppong advised workers to check where their monies that are deducted are sent to and whether they are put to the use for which they are taken from source.
