Director of Elections for the Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah has warned Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) to be careful about getting her facts right before going public. He said Mrs. Charlotte Osei’s recent statement that EC had detected 200,000 double registrations in Ashanti alone and backtracking later that the figure was rather 14,651 portends danger for this country. Mrs. Charlotte Osei said on Accra based Joy fm’s Newsfile last Saturday that EC had detected about 200,000 double registrations in Ashanti region, the stronghold of the NPP. Mrs. Charlotte Osei backtracked later that she erred after the opposition challenged the figures. Speaking on Oman FM National Agenda Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah described the development as “problematic.” “For all you know she has started deleting names up to 200, 000 in the Ashanti Region,” he alleged. He reminded Mrs. Osei that she is occupying a very sensitive position and therefore must be careful, since such a blunder could lead to the declaration of a candidate as a winner based on wrong results during this year’s election. Martin Adjei Korsah believes “This is a good opportunity for NPP to request from the commission the form 1A to cross check what EC boss has been saying.” Martin Korsah who accused Mrs. Charlotte Osei of doing the ruling NDC’s bid per her defiance posture on the call for new voters register said “If I listen to her, and I listen to the NDC I get the impression that they are having the same position.” Story by: Michael Creg Afful
