The Member of Parliament for the Tema East Constituency, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has given “Kosoe Dwaso,” a popular market centre in Tema Community 1, a face lift.
The market which hitherto was in bad shape is now paved with tiles and can boast of modern restrooms, toilet facility, bathrooms and water facility.
It was rehabilitated at the cost of 160,000 Ghana cedis.
Addressing the enthusiastic market women at the commissioning of the facility, Hon. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover said he pledged to rehabilitate the popular market due to its poor state, when he visited the place some months ago.
He was grateful to Almighty God for enabling him to fulfill his promise.
Although the market accommodates hundreds of food stuff sellers, it was without social amenities and facilities like toilets, thus making life unbearable for the traders.
Hon. Titus Glover was optimistic that the facility will go a long way to enhance trading activities saying, “You now have a decent place where you can do business, have a little rest if you want, as well as have your bath whenever you want.”
He charged the market queens to maintain the facility in good conditions.
On her part, the Queen mother in charge of plantain sellers Mary Bondah commended the MP for rehabilitating the market.
She was grateful that their long suffering has now been brought to an end by the MP.
“This whole place was dusty. And any time it rains, we find it difficult to trade. When you want to buy plantain during rainy season, you will have to wash it several times because of the mud,” Madam Mary Bondah noted.
