Let’s sustain the pressure on EC – Gabby Otchere - Darko charges Ghanaians

Former Executive Director of Danquah Institute (DI) Gabby Asare- Otchere Darko has said, the fight to demand for new voters register will continue unabated until the Electoral Commission (EC) rescinds its decision to maintain the current voters register.

Speaking on Oman FM’s political analyses programme Boiling Point Gabby Otchere Darko charged all opposition parties and all those who have been agitating for new voters register to intensify pressure on the EC.

“Those who are looking for credible elections, I want to tell you don’t relent. Don’t let those who don’t mean well to get away with it,” Gabby charged.

Gabby Otchere-Darko could not fathom why EC will insist on maintaining the current register which is bloated with names of foreign nationals.

According to him, the report of the 5 member panel composed by the same EC to deliberate on proposals for new register admitted that the current register is flawed.

Mr. Otchere-Darko, who spoke in an angry tone, condemned what he called defiant posture by the chairperson of EC, Mrs. Charlotte Osei on the call for new voters register.

He stated categorically that EC boss is determined to destabilize the country per her actions.

He sounded a cautioned that if Mrs. Charlotte Osei is not resisted she will destroy our democracy.

“If Charlotte will continue to be defiant, we will make sure that she doesn’t burn the country,” Gabby declared.

He said the opposition parties in the country will use all the legitimate means to force the EC boss to do what he termed as the right thing.

“We want a credible register and a credible elections which both the loser and the winner will accept the results.”
