Two members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have filed a writ at an Accra High Court seeking the court to set aside the outcome of the Tema West NPP primary.
The plaintiffs, Nana Yaw Ntim and Christian Joseph are accusing the NPP of going against its own decision that was set- that precludes non-Ga natives to run for the ticket in Tema West constituency.
According to the suit filed in court against the party, elected parliamentary candidate for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah is not a native Ga, and therefore prayed the court to declare his election null and void.
The plaintiffs are also accusing Mr. Ahenkorah of not being “a registered voter of the Tema West Constituency” and want the court to restrain Mr.Ahenkorah from contesting the parliamentary elections in the constituency.
Mr. Carlos Ahenkorah in July this year was declared the winner of the Tema West primary after he beat the incumbent Irene Naa Torshie to win the ticket.
He polled 502 votes, as against her contender Naa Torshie’s 273 votes.
