New Tema police commander talk tough on criminals

The newly appointed Tema Regional Police Commander ACP Paul Manley Nchorbilah Awini has vowed to wage war at criminals operating in the Tema metropolis particularly those dealing in narcotic drugs.
He said his tenure as the commander of the Tema region will be so tough that criminals in the area will find it difficult to operate because the police will not relent on their effort in going after them.
ACP Paul Awini who took over from DCOP Beatrice Zakpa Vib-Sanziri said gave strong assurance to residents that there will be peace in region because he is a man of action.
Speaking to Oman News on the sidelines of a send off party for DCOP Beatrice Zakpa Vib-Sanziri, the outgoing Regional Commander, ACP Paul Awini who acknowledged the tremendous contributions of the his predecessor stated that his vision will be to build on the foundation she laid with a new strategy.
“I am going to adopt a strategy that will be people friendly but in fact very hostile to crime,” he stated.
According to ACP Awini, the purpose of the strategy is to ensure that criminal activities in the region are brought to the barest minimum so that the residents can go about their legitimate business without fear of harassment.
Touching on the narcotics drug trade which has gained root in Tema, the tough talking ACP Awini said, the police will crack down on narcotic traffickers who operate in the metropolis.
“Our strategy to fight crime includes that of the narcotic,” he said.
ACP Awini explained that due to the serious of the issue the command has already put together a team of informant who will scout for information and relay it to the police in order to go after them.
Aside this, ACP Awini said the police will share whatever information the team of informant as well as members of the public will provide with other security services in order to crack down on the traffickers.
Meanwhile, ACP Awini assured residents of adequate security during this Christmas festivities.
