A former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac Manu, has been named as campaign manager of the party’s campaign team to spear-head Nana Akufo-Addo’s third time bid to be president of Ghana.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere, Dan Botwe who is a former General Secretary has also been added to the campaign team.
This was revealed by Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen on the sidelines of the party’s National Executive Committee meeting held on Wednesday...
The party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had nominated Mac Manu for the Council’s endorsement.
Mr. Mac Manu has been leading the party’s electoral reform agenda working closely with the Electoral Commission.
Deputy General Secretary of the party, Obiri Boahen, speaking to the press after the Council’s meeting Wednesday, said that reasons for Mac Manu’s endorsement cannot be divulged.
“This is a party issue. I don’t think it will serve any purpose to divulge issues. The most important thing is that we have given you the names [of team members],” Obiri Boahen said.
The Council, which is the highest decision-making body of the party after Congress, has also decided not to interfere with the court process currently underway to pronounce on the credibility of the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Klottey Korley constituency.
