Engineers push for 50 years energy plan

President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology Ghana (IETG) Rev. Dr. Eng. Eric Ankrah is urging scientist, engineers and technologist to rally and find a lasting solution to the country’s power crisis.He opined that the coming together of these professional will enable them to discuss extensively and find sustainable source of energy and come out with an energy plan which will guide the country for the next 50 years.
Speaking at the induction of new members and fellows into the institution, Rev. Eng Ankrah stressed that it is was time these professionals come together because the power crisis was crippling industries and businesses.Rev. Ankrah said his outfit has already written to some of the professional bodies to nominate members who will serve on a committee which will be composed soon.Rev Ankrah claimed that some businesses have closed down due to the power crisis thus increasing the unemployment situation in the country.
“Our nation has come to a position where each and everyone hands must be on deck,” he stressed.He stated that this is not the period for blame games but rather a period to find solutions since the power crisis is crippling businesses and throwing workers out of jobs.“It is a period to find solution to pertaining challenges but not to blame ourselves,” Rev. Dr. Ankrah counseled.
