The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its General Secretary, Mr. Kwabena Agyepong and Second Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe indefinitely.
The Disciplinary Committee had asked that Mr. Agyepong be given a 15-month suspension, while Mr. Crabbe was to be suspended indefinitely.
This was after some members of the party, namely Mr. Boye Laryea, Chris Arthur, Kweku Abrefa Damua, Kwabena Affum Dankwa and Kwame Baffoe had petitioned the Disciplinary Committee to sanction Mr. Agyapong and Sammy Crabbe.
But when the National Executive Committee (NEC) met in a crunch meeting at the party’s Headquarters on Thursday, they decided to suspend both of them indefinitely.
Mr. Crabbe, who is an ally to the suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko, refused to appear before the committee after several invitations while Mr. Agyepong, who is also perceived to be an ally to Mr. Paul Afoko, vehemently opposed his suspension, an action considered as an affront to the regulations of the party.
Mr. Agyepong was present at the meeting that suspended him.
Kwabena Agyepong and Sammy Crabbe will now join Paul Afoko as national officers who have been suspended by the party in less than three months.
Some supporters of the party mostly women who were at the headquarters, popped Champagne to celebrate the NEC’s decision.
Hajia Fati an avid supporter of NPP thanked Almighty Allah for the suspension of the two national elected officers.
