NDC youth vandalize MP’s billboards

Irate supporters of failed aspirant for the Tamale Central constituency of the National Democratic Congress Alhaji Ibrahim Seidu have hit the streets of Tamale in protest over what they say is unfair dismissal of the engineer at the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

The supporters vandalised bill boards belonging to the incumbent MP Inusah Fuseini and set fire to some paraphernalia and billboards belonging to him.

Tamale Police had to intervene to prevent the situation from escalating.

According to the Tamale Police Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah, he had information that some angry supporters of the NDC had gone on a destruction spree because they alleged one of the candidates who contested the Tamale Central constituency in the just ended NDC primary, Alhaji Ibrahim Seidu had been sacked from his job at the Ministry.

DCOP Yeboah said checks by his outfit indicate Alhaji Seidu is still at post and has not been dismissed.

He said attempts to arrest the rampaging youth failed because they escaped immediately they saw the police vehicles come in.

Meanwhile the Police in the Tamale Metropolis have arrested Sulemana Kindiya, believed to be one of the angry youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who on Wednesday vandalized billboards and other paraphernalia belonging to the incumbent Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini.

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh on Thursday said the suspect was being processed for court. According to him, the Police were on a manhunt for other persons connected to the riot triggered by a rumor that Engineer Ibrahim Seidu, who contested Inusah Fuseini during the NDC Parliamentary primary had been fired from his job by Mr. Fuseini, who doubles as the Roads and Highways Minister. ASP Ebenezer Tetteh reiterated the commitment of the police to flushing out miscreants who intend to make the Tamale Metropolis ungovernable regardless of one’s political allegiance.
